Alex Pogue Journey

Alex is a client of ours and has become such a close friend to us. As Alex shares just a fraction of his story with K Squared Fitness it has been awesome to see him grow as a man.

I believed in him from day one. If someone is going to come to me, they want help and Katie and I can provide the tools, the resources, and the support to help.

His Perspective

I met Kevin in late December of 2017. I had goals that I wished to achieve that felt so far out of reach. I started barely able to do one full pull up from dead hang, doing 20 unbroken push ups gassed me out, and running anything sub 8 minute mile pace felt like an all out sprint. 

This video shares just a fraction of our journey.

As Kevin and I worked together at first there was a lot of inconsistency on my part. Being in college at the time I would always make an excuse for why I could not be at a workout. I would have 2-3 great months of progress just to withdraw for the next 2-3 months over the course of a year and a half to two years. 

I feel, look, and am doing things I never thought I would be capable of doing.

Internal vs External Motivation

Finally, I got to the point where I wanted change. Kevin always told me that what he does is give the tools for success, and it was always up to me to pick them up and use them. This time I did. I went full send with the program Kevin gave me and over the course of a few months I was in the best shape of my life. 

That is a total understatement. I felt unrecognizable from my old self. When I met Kevin I told him I wanted to join the US Navy. Not only that, I wanted an opportunity for a special warfare job as well. From starting barely able to run two miles straight, and getting gassed during push ups and sit ups. I was hitting personal records I could not even imagine. My mile and a half time was 9 minutes and two seconds. Hitting almost 100 push ups and sit ups in two minutes(unbroken), and going from barely 1 pull up to hitting auto qualification standard at 15 pull ups from a dead hang. Squatting 375 lbs comfortable, casually throwing up 250 pounds power cleans, and a new PR on deadlift at 405 lbs. I went from being 192 pounds with a dream, to 163 pounds with a Navy contract. 

I’m stronger than ever and I’m fitter than ever.

The Difference

K Squared Fitness is not another fitness program to me. Kevin and Katie have built a family of like minded people centered around helping each other achieve their goals. They have carefully put together training programs that gives you absolutely every single tool you could need to reach whatever fitness or nutrition goal you have, and they walk besides you every step of the way until they get to celebrate your dreams coming true with you. I have now gotten to serve over a year in the US Navy and I am still training with Kevin and the family.
